Wandering Gods

In Fujian, there's a unique culture known as Youshen, or Wandering Gods.

During major festivals, people will carry around sculptures of deities from their local temples and show them around the city they are protecting, wishing them to cast blessings on people.

During practices, the eyes of the gods are covered, because it’s not yet time to invite them over, but when the parade officially starts, the powerful presence of the gods can be fully felt.

In recent years, netizens have commented that the faces of the gods are very handsome, causing Youshen to become an internet trend — with even young children following suit.
